Terms of Service

Adapting Services Limited (operating as Privilio) · Last updated: June 2026 · Effective: June 2026

By using Privilio, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them. If you don't agree, don't use Privilio.

1. The service

Privilio is an end-to-end encrypted contact manager with a PIN-protected vault, published by Adapting Services Limited, Ontario, Canada ("Privilio", "we", "us"). Your contacts are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase and synced across your devices. We store only encrypted ciphertext — we cannot read your contacts.

2. Your account and passphrase

To sync across devices, you create an account and choose an encryption passphrase. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and passphrase secure. Your passphrase is the only key to your data. We never receive it and cannot reset or recover it — if you lose it, your data cannot be recovered. This is a core part of the privacy guarantee, not a bug.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Privilio. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent.

3. Acceptable use

Privilio runs on your own device, but you still agree not to:

We reserve the right to discontinue providing the app or updates to anyone who violates these terms.

4. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy (available at privilio.ca/privacy) describes how we handle data. The key point: your contacts, notes, and vault are end-to-end encrypted — we store only ciphertext and never receive your passphrase, so we cannot read them. You own your data, in full.

5. Pricing and payments

Privilio offers a free tier and optional paid upgrades. Any purchases are processed by the app store you download from (the Apple App Store or Google Play) under their terms, billing, and refund policies. Subscriptions renew and can be cancelled through your app store account. We may change pricing for future purchases with reasonable notice.

6. Data loss warning

Important: Because of our end-to-end encryption, your data cannot be recovered by us if:

We strongly recommend remembering your passphrase and storing it in a secure password manager, and keeping a JSON export as a backup (Settings → Export contacts). We are not responsible for data loss resulting from a forgotten passphrase or account deletion.

7. Intellectual property

Privilio and its underlying software are owned by Adapting Services Limited. You retain ownership of all content you create in Privilio. By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and transmit your content in encrypted form solely to provide the sync service — we cannot read it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Privilio is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss, service interruptions, or security breaches beyond our control.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for Privilio in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You may delete your account and data at any time from Settings. When you do, your encrypted data is permanently deleted within 30 days. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post material changes within the app or on this page at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
